Patna, Aug. 4 -- A special court in Patna today sentenced a revenue employee Surendranath Tripathi to four years of rigorous imprisonment for taking a bribe.

Special Vigilance Judge Mohammad Rustam also slapped a fine of Rs 20,000 against the accused.

The judge delivered the verdict after finding Surendranath Tripathi, the then revenue employee of Chand Block in Bhabhua (Kaimur district), guilty under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The court stated that in the event of failure to pay the fine, the convict would have to serve an additional one month in jail.
