Jalgaon, Dec. 1 -- A retired police official in Jalgaon was duped of Rs 25,700 in an ATM card swapping scam, police said today.
The victim, identified as 66-year-old Ramesh Harchand More, a resident of Chanduanna Nagar, was targeted at an ATM kiosk located beside the main branch of the State Bank.
According to the complaint, More had travelled to the city for grocery shopping and stopped at the ATM around 11:15 am to withdraw cash. A queue had formed at the machine. When he attempted the transaction, the machine did not dispense money. At that moment, an unidentified man standing behind him offered unsolicited assistance and instructed More to re-enter his PIN.
