Retired Manipur officer shot dead by nephew

Imphal, Nov. 21 -- In a tragic turn of events, a retired Manipur Police Service (MPS) officer, Akoijam Shantikumar, was shot dead by his nephew on Friday, according to police.

Initial reports indicate that the retired officer sustained three gunshot wounds to the upper chest, allegedly fired by his nephew, Akoijam Kishan during an abrupt confrontation at their residence.

Soon after the shooting, the accused reportedly shot himself in the head, dying instantly at the scene.
