Bhubaneswar, Jan. 31 -- Retired IAS officer Madhusudan Padhi took charge as the State Election Commissioner of Odisha on Friday.

Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati appointed former IAS officer Madhusudan Padhi as the State Election Commissioner of Odisha.

A 1991-batch Indian Administrative Service officer, Padhi succeeds retired IAS officer Aditya Prasad Padhi in the position.

As the State Election Commissioner, Padhi, who has served the state government in various capacities, will oversee the Panchayat and urban elections in the state in 2027.

After assuming office, Padhi told the media that the state government had entrusted him with a significant responsibility.
