New Delhi, July 18 -- The Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) put the retail inflation for the month of June to 2.1 per cent.
This significant fall is driven by the easing of food prices as well as favourable base effects, shows government data.
The Consumer Food Price Index, or CFPI, tracks changes in the retail prices of food products. CFPI is a prime indicator of food inflation calculated by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) in India. The CFBI releases its reports for rural, urban, and combined (rural and urban) sectors.
The report highlighted that there is a significant decline of 72 basis points in headline inflation in June 2025 compared to May 2025. It is the lowest year-on-year inflation since January 2019.
