Nagpur, Feb. 3 -- A 26-year-old resident doctor, who had joined the postgraduate Ophthalmology course at Government Medical College and Hospital (Medical) just six days ago, died by suicide by hanging in a hotel at Ganeshpeth, officials said.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the medical fraternity.
The deceased has been identified as Rutwik Sagar Thakur, a resident of Chikhli. His father, Dr. Sagar Thakur, and his mother are both private medical practitioners, while his sister is a final-year MBBS student.
Rutwik had close family friends working in the Ophthalmology Department and other departments of the medical college.
