Shimla, Sept. 12 -- Relief and reconstruction work in flood-ravaged Kullu district has picked up pace with Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu directing the administration to restore basic services and reconnect cut-off villages on a war footing.

The monsoon fury, marked by cloudbursts, landslides, and flash floods, left Kullu devastated with broken roads, washed-away bridges, snapped power and water supply, and hundreds of villages cut off. Farmers and orchardists faced mounting losses as transportation of apples, pomegranates, and vegetables came to a halt.

The Chief Minister ordered immediate clearance of major routes, including the Kullu-Manali-Mandi highway, Aut-Banjar, Aut-Sainj, and Bhuntar-Manikaran roads. With ...
