Shimla, Aug. 19 -- Incessant rainfall continues to wreak havoc across Himachal Pradesh, unleashing fresh landslides, road cave-ins and flooding. The official death toll has climbed to 268 since June 20, officials said today. According to the Shimla Public Relations Officer, NH-05 remains blocked at Shanand near Kumarsain after continuous rockfall made restoration work highly risky. Traffic has been diverted through alternative routes.

Around 35-40 people were evacuated following massive landslides near Ramchandra Chowk in Shimla overnight .No casualties were reported, parts of roofing sheets in nearby houses were damaged.
