Santa Fe, Feb. 28 -- Police authorities in Santa Fe, New Mexico, have confirmed that there is no evidence of foul play in the deaths of Gene Hackman, 95 and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, 65, yet the circumstances surrounding their passing remain shrouded in mystery.

The couple was discovered separately in their residence on Wednesday February 26, with their German Shepherd also found deceased. Two other dogs on the property were reported to be alive and unharmed.

During a press briefing on February 27, Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza reiterated that there were "no apparent signs of foul play" at the scene, but nonetheless called the circumstances of the deaths "unusual."
