Bengaluru, June 7 -- Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday announced an increase in the ex-gratia compensation for the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic stampede at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The compensation amount has been enhanced from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 25 lakh per family. The stampede occurred on June four during a victory celebration for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) after their maiden IPL title win. A massive crowd, reportedly numbering between two to three lakh people, had gathered outside the stadium, which has a capacity of only 35,000.
