Bengaluru, June 10 -- In a major twist to the ongoing probe into the Bengaluru stampede outside Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)'s marketing head Nikhil Sosale told the Karnataka High Court on Tuesday that his arrest by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) was illegal, as he was neither named in the FIR nor presented with any material evidence or grounds at the time of arrest. The court was hearing Sosale's petition challenging his arrest in the early hours of June 6. His counsel, senior advocate Sandesh Chouta, submitted that the arrest violated the Supreme Court's directions in Vihan Kumar, which held that a person must not be held even for a minute if the arrest is illegal.
