Mumbai, July 1 -- Senior BJP leader Ravindra Chavan will take over as the new president of the Maharashtra unit of the party today in the presence of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Chavan will take charge from outgoing president Chandrashekhar Bawankule.
The central BJP had sent Union Minister Kiren Rijiju for the selection of the new state president. The process was completed at the state office in the presence of top party leaders.
Ravindra Chavan has played a significant role in the expansion of BJP in the Konkan region. He has also worked as the party's state general secretary and working president.
