Patna, Oct. 2 -- With symbolic burning of the effigy of Ravana amid incessant rains, the the nine-day long Durga puja festival ended in Bihar today.
Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the ceremonial 'Ravana Vadh' function in heavily drenched Gandhi Maidan due to the downpour continuing since morning.
The grand event, attended by the Governor, Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Ministers and several other dignitaries , is one of the state's most significant cultural spectacles. Each year, thousands of people gather to witness the symbolic burning of giant effigies of Ravana, Meghnath, and Kumbhkaran, along with the torching of a replica of the mythical Golden Lanka.
