Itanagar, Aug. 7 -- A new species of primrose named Primula Indica has been discovered at an altitude of 2,550 metres in the misty Mayodiya Pass of Dibang Valley, Arunachal Pradesh.

The vibrant plant, distinguished by its broad violet petals and golden-yellow eye, was identified during a 2024 field expedition by Bipankar Hajong of Bholanath College and Pankaj Bharali of CSIR-NEIST. Their findings were recently published in the peer-reviewed journal Phytotaxa, earning acclaim from researchers and nature lovers across the country.
