Bengaluru, Dec. 3 -- Suspended JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna today told the Karnataka High Court that the rape case against him is the result of "political vendetta" and not supported by facts, as his counsel sought to overturn his conviction and life sentence.

A Division Bench of Justices KS Mudagal and Venkatesh Naik was hearing Revanna's appeal against the trial court order that found him guilty of repeatedly raping a domestic worker.

Arguing for Revanna, Senior Advocate Sidharth Luthra submitted that the complainant remained silent for three years and all four cases surfaced simultaneously, which he termed as politically motivated.
