Malda (West Bengal), July 4 -- In a first case of conviction in post-poll violence in West Bengal's 2021 assembly elections, a special court in Malda district is expected to pronounce the quantum of punishment today to a man accused of raping a minor girl, official sources said.
The Additional District & Session judge (II) of POSCO court in Malda on Wednesday convicted the accused, Rafikul Islam alias Bhelu, as guilty of the offence under section 6 of POCSO Act and 376AB of IPC for committing rape on a minor girl on June 4, 2021, in a school at Manikchak of Malda district.
