Nagpur, Feb. 17 -- Vidarbha made a strong start to their Ranji Trophy semifinal against Mumbai, reaching 308 for 5 at stumps on the opening day at the VCA Stadium here on Saturday.

Danish Malewar and Dhruv Shorey struck half-centuries, while Shivam Dube and Shams Mulani claimed two wickets apiece for Mumbai.

Opting to bat first, Vidarbha got off to a steady start with Shorey leading the charge in the first hour. However, left-arm pacer Royston Dias provided Mumbai with the breakthrough, dismissing opener Atharva Taide early in the innings.
