Ranchi, Sept. 16 -- The district-level launch of National Deworming Day was held today at St. Anna Girls' High School, Ranchi. The programme was inaugurated by Civil Surgeon Ranchi, Dr. Prabhat Kumar, who gave an albendazole tablet to Class X student Sakshi Tirkey to mark the occasion.
The objective of the campaign was to reduce the prevalence of worm infections among children and adolescents and prevent anaemia. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), worm infestation is a global public health concern that adversely affects children's physical growth, intellectual development, nutritional status, and haemoglobin levels.
