Cape Town, Oct. 2 -- South African President Cyril Ramaphosa today called on Israel to release South Africans and other foreigners detained aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla, which was heading to the Gaza Strip.
Earlier in the day, the flotilla said that its crew, including Swedish eco-activist Greta Thunberg, had been detained by Israeli forces. Yesterday, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said that the Israeli navy had intercepted several Global Sumud Flotilla vessels and was transferring their passengers to an Israeli port.
