Mumbai, Oct. 15 -- Legislative Council Chairman Prof. Ram Shinde today strongly denied the allegations made by NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) MLA Rohit Pawar, calling them "completely false and baseless".
Rohit Pawar had alleged that Shinde helped gangster Nilesh Ghaywal, but Shinde countered saying that it was, in fact, Pawar who pressured then Home Minister Anil Deshmukh to help Ghaywal obtain a passport.
Reacting sharply, Shinde claimed that Rohit Pawar and Nilesh Ghaywal share close family ties. During the election, Pawar brought Ghaywal into the constituency to defeat him.
Local newspapers even published reports and photos showing Pawar mentioning victories of several gram panchayats due to Ghaywal and his brother Sachin, Shinde claimed...
