Siliguri, March 27 -- Trinamool Congress candidate for the Siliguri Assembly seat and city Mayor Goutam Deb on Friday raised the slogan "Jai Shri Ram" while participating in a massive Ram Navami rally organised by his supporters on Friday ahead of the Assembly elections scheduled for April 23.
The move drew considerable attention among residents and political observers, many of whom interpreted it as an attempt to appeal to Hindu voters amid an increasingly polarised political climate in West Bengal. Deb, instead of his party's traditional slogan "Joy Bangla," repeatedly invoked the religious chant during the procession.
