New Delhi, Aug. 20 -- The Rajya Sabha today passed the IIM (Amendment) Bill, 2025 by voice vote amid a walkout by the Opposition.

The bill pertains to the establishment of an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Guwahati, Assam. With this, the bill has received the approval of both Houses of Parliament, as the Lok Sabha had already passed it earlier.

The Opposition staged a walkout over their demand for a discussion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Bihar, which was not accepted. Due to the uproar by the Opposition, the House was adjourned twice.
