New Delhi, Aug. 6 -- The Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm today following uproar over the rejection of 35 notices submitted under Rule 267. Deputy Chairman Harivansh refused to admit the notices, stating that none complied with parliamentary norms.
Soon after the House convened, ministers laid papers on the table, and an obituary was read out for former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik, who passed away yesterday.
When opposition members pressed for discussion on urgent matters, particularly concerning the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, Harivansh reiterated his decision, citing procedural irregularities in the notices.
