Kolhapur, Sept. 11 -- Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana (SSS) national president Raju Shetty today stated that the FRP committee's decision to base the fair remunerative price (FRP) for sugarcane on the sugar recovery of the same year is illegal and benefits the state's sugar factory owners.

In a statement, Shetty criticised the state government and the FRP committee, led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. He said the decision was taken for a "handful of sugar industrialists" and was against the interests of sugarcane farmers.
