Jaipur, Dec. 5 -- The foundation stone for the Rs 647 crore relining and reconstruction project of the Gang Canal-Ferozepur Feeder was laid by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Friday, marking the centenary celebrations of the 100-year-old canal built by the erstwhile Bikaner Maharaja Ganga Singh.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Chief Minister Sharma paid rich tributes to Ganga Singh, who had laid the foundation for the canal on this day in 1925. He said: "Ganga Singh Ji's futuristic far far-sighted vision had offered a long-term solution to the scarcity of water in the desert districts of Western Rajasthan.
