Bengaluru, Dec. 27 -- Karnataka Minister KN Rajanna on Saturday sharpened the Congress' attack on the JD(S)-BJP alliance, alleging that the much-touted partnership between the two parties was driven entirely by electoral convenience and self-interest rather than any ideological or strategic commitment.

Rajanna said JD(S) and BJP leaders have repeatedly projected their understanding as "eternal" and a joint struggle, but their conduct in local body elections tells a different story. He pointed out that whenever the alliance is electorally advantageous, it is embraced, and wherever it does not suit their calculations, it is quietly discarded.
