Mumbai, Nov. 26 -- MNS Chief Raj Thackeray on Wednesday criticised union Minister of Science and Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh for his recent statement on the name 'IIT-Bombay'.

Speaking at an IIT event in Mumbai, Dr. Singh had said that it was good that the name "Bombay" was retained instead of changing it to "Mumbai." In a strongly worded Facebook post, Raj Thackeray said that Singh's remark clearly reflects the mindset of the central government.

He added that attempts to separate Mumbai from Maharashtra in the past had been thwarted by Marathi leaders and the Marathi people, but the sentiments held against Mumbai's Marathi identity are resurfacing.
