New Delhi, Nov. 1 -- Toxic smog that blanketed the capital after Diwali was washed off by isolated rains in the city and the National Capital Region yesterday, leading to an improvement in Delhi's air quality index today, according to weather experts.

Trace rainfall was recorded at Lodhi Road and Ayanagar stations in Delhi during the 24 hours between 8:30 a.m. yesterday and 8:30 a.m. today, according to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Residents of the national capital region, including Faridabad and Noida, also reported drizzle across the city.
