Shimla, March 21 -- A strong spell of rain and snowfall during the past week has significantly reduced the precipitation deficit in Himachal Pradesh, though the state still remains below normal for the ongoing month.
According to data released by the India Meteorological Department, the state recorded substantially higher rainfall between March 13 and March 20, helping to bring down the earlier sharp shortfall.
The weekly rainfall data shows that Himachal received 59.5 mm precipitation against a normal of 25.4 mm, marking a 134 per cent surplus during the period. This intense spell has played a crucial role in narrowing the overall March deficit, which had widened significantly earlier due to prolonged dry conditions.
