Rain and snow likely to occur in Himachal on Jan 1

Shimla, Dec. 29 -- Rain or snowfall is likely to occur at a few places of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, Chamba and Kullu district on the New Year, January 1, 2026, which would be a major snowfall or rain after a two and a half month dry spell.

According to the Indian Metrological Department, a fresh western disturbance is set to influence weather conditions across Himachal Pradesh around the New Year, with light to moderate rain and snowfall likely to take place at a few places in the higher reaches on January 1.

As per the district-level outlook, parts of Chamba, Kullu, Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti districts are expected to experience light to moderate rain or snowfall at isolated to few locations on January 1.
