Samastipur, Sept. 11 -- Train services between Jaynagar in Bihar's Samastipur rail division and Kurtha in Nepal have been suspended following violent protests and clashes across the border.
Railway sources said here today that the decision was taken as a precautionary step to safeguard passengers amid the rising domestic tensions in Nepal.
All trains operating on the Jaynagar-Kurtha route have been halted until further notice.
"Passenger safety is the top priority. Considering the current law and order situation in Nepal, it was decided to suspend operations temporarily," the officials said.
In addition, railway authorities have intensified vigilance at sensitive stations along the India-Nepal border, including Raxaul.
