New Delhi, Dec. 23 -- Days after seven elephants were killed after colliding with Sairang-New Delhi Rajdhani Express causing derailment of five coaches in Assam's Hojai, the Indian Railways has deployed Artificial Intelligence (AI) enabled Intrusion Detection System (IDS) using Distributed Acoustic System (DAS) for detecting presence of elephants on tracks.

In a statement, the Railway Ministry stated that the AI-enabled Intrusion Detection System has been implemented in 141 RKm section on Northeast Frontier Railway to prevent elephant collisions.
