Amritsar, Sept. 15 -- Congress leader Rahul Gandhi arrived in Punjab this morning to meet flood-affected communities and assess the devastation across the state's border districts.
Landing at Sri Guru Ramdas Jee International Airport around 9:30 am, Gandhi proceeded to Ghonewal village in Amritsar, where he interacted with residents impacted by recent floods caused by a breached dam, which submerged homes and crops.
Following his village visit, Gandhi paid his respects at Gurudwara Beed Baba Budha Sahib, a significant Sikh shrine.
Accompanied by Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring and Leader of Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa, Gandhi is scheduled to visit Gurdaspur and Pathankot later today to further evaluate the crisis.
