Wayanad, Sept. 22 -- Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to immediately issue a comprehensive relief package for Punjab, stating that the state's recovery from recent floods requires more substantial aid.
In a social media post, Gandhi said the initial Rs 1,600 crore relief package announced by the Prime Minister was "inadequate" and an "injustice" to the people of Punjab.
He noted that the state had suffered an estimated loss of around Rs 20,000 crore due to the floods. "Millions of homes were destroyed, over four million acres of crops were damaged, and a large number of animals were swept away," he wrote.
