Hyderabad, July 30 -- Former Minister and senior Congress leader T Jeevan Reddy today said that the ongoing national debate on the rights and welfare of Backward Classes (BCs) is the result
of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's unwavering push for a caste census.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan, Reddy credited Rahul Gandhi for ensuring the successful implementation of the caste census in Telangana and reiterated the Congress party's commitment to 42 per cent reservation for BCs and other weaker sections.
Calling for legal clarity and swift action, Reddy demanded that the 9th Schedule of the Constitution be amended to give full legal backing to the proposed 42 per cent reservation.
