Chandigarh, Sept. 16 -- A controversy erupted after Congress MP Rahul Gandhi was presented with a siropa (robe of honour) during his visit to Baba Budda Sahib Gurdwara and Sri Darbar Sahib on September 15.
Gandhi had arrived in Amritsar to review flood-affected areas when gurudwara management members offered him the traditional honour. Soon after, several Sikh organisations lodged objections with the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), calling the act against Sikh traditions.
Responding to the complaints, SGPC president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said the matter was under investigation.
