Chandigarh, Nov. 5 -- A day ahead of the first phase of Bihar Assembly elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today accused the ruling BJP of running what he called "Operation Sarkar Chori," a systematic attempt to manipulate voter lists, similar to what he alleged for Haryana.
During an 80-minute presser, Gandhi claimed that the names of thousands of genuine voters had been removed from the electoral rolls. To substantiate his claim, he invited five residents of Bihar on stage, all of whom said their names and those of their family members had been deleted from the voter list.
"This is not just a clerical mistake; it is a planned assault on democracy," he asserted.
