Mumbai, Dec. 17 -- Even before the official campaigning for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections begins, a fierce tussle has erupted between the ruling alliance and the opposition over holding the traditional campaign-ending rally at Shivaji Park.

Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT), the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), and the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena have all submitted letters to the civic administration on Wednesday seeking permission to hold their final rallies at Shivaji Park. The Shinde-led Shiv Sena has formally requested the ground for one of the three days- January 11, 12, or 13- for its concluding rally.
