Bahraich, Oct. 25 -- Panic spread across two villages in the Nanpara forest region today after a rabid jackal attacked and injured five people before being clubbed to death by villagers, officials said.
According to reports, the first attack occurred yesterday morning in Mogariya village, where a 65-year-old man named Tahsildar was bitten by the jackal.
Later that afternoon, the same animal attacked Kesrani Devi (55), a field worker in Masood Nagar Basthanwa village, injuring her and her brother-in-law Ramkaran Verma when he tried to rescue her.
The jackal struck again near a local temple, mauling two more residents, Mohanlal (54) and America Prasad (42).
