Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Aug. 8 -- Maharashtra's cattle economy faces collapse as the Qureshi community's statewide boycott entered its sixth week, escalating into an interstate crisis that has paralyzed supply chains and threatened India's meat export sector.

What began on July 1 in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar as a protest against vigilante violence has now shuttered 200 of Maharashtra's 292 livestock markets, with losses exceeding Rs 460 crore.

The All India Jamiatul Quresh has mobilized over 200,000 traders and processors across all 36 districts to halt all cattle transactions.
