Moscow, July 31 -- Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law obliging owners of audiovisual services to block films that discredit traditional ethical and moral values of Russia, according to a document published on the legal acts portal on Thursday.
Under the bill, owners of audiovisual services are required, within 24 hours of receiving a request from Russian media watchdog Roskomnadzor, to stop distributing materials in relation to which the Culture Ministry has made a decision to "refuse to provide a distribution certificate or to revoke a distribution certificate" or has issued a conclusion "on the presence of materials that discredit traditional Russian ethical and moral values and (or) promote their denial."
