Moscow, Aug. 16 -- Briefing the Kremlin on the results of his meeting with US President Donald Trump in Alaska, Russian President Vladmir Putin made several statements, terming the visit 'highly useful', with the talks in Anchorage bringing each side closer to a solution.

According to RIA Novosti, the Russian leader praised the negotiations, stating "We haven't had direct negotiations of this kind at this level for a long time. I repeat once again, there was an opportunity to calmly and in detail once again set out our position."

Even though no defining agreement was reached between Moscow and Washington in Anchorage, Putin called the discussions frank and said that ending the war requires the elimination of its root causes.
