Bhubaneswar, Sept. 24 -- The 32 km Puri-Konark rail line, sanctioned by the Railway Ministry at Rs 492.12 crore, is expected to significantly boost spiritual and heritage tourism in Odisha, officials said today.
Designed to connect the UNESCO World Heritage sites of the Shri Jagannath temple in Puri and the Sun temple in Konark, the corridor will feature four stations, key bridges, and facilities for special events.
The project is expected to generate 11 lakh man-days of employment. Officials said it will not only promote tourism but also support local livelihoods through the One Station One Product scheme.
