Puri, May 26 -- Puri Gajapati Dibyasingh Deb on Monday expressed surprise over ISKCON's silence regarding the naming of the Jagannath temple in Digha as Jagannath Dham.

Speaking to the media, Gajapati Dibyasingh Deb-who also serves as the chairperson of the Sri Jagannath Temple Managing Committee, stated that the Digha Jagannath temple is an initiative of the West Bengal government. The temple is being administered by a trust, and ISKCON has been entrusted with conducting religious services.

He said naming the Digha temple as Jagannath Dham is incorrect, citing references from religious texts to support his point. However, he noted that despite raising the issue, no corrective action was taken.
