Sangrur, May 5 -- In a significant breakthrough, Sangrur Police have exposed a drug smuggling racket operating from within the district jail. During a search operation, mobile phones were recovered, leading to the disclosure of the racket.
The police seized 4 kg of heroin, Rs 5,50,000 in drug money, a Glock 9mm pistol, and 2 live cartridges.
According to SSP Sangrur Sartaj Singh Chahal, the police team recovered contraband during a search operation in the jail last month.
A case was registered against eight accused under the NDPS Act and Prison Act.
