Punjab: Meeting between farmers & Union Govt. commences
Chandigarh, Feb. 22 -- A meeting between the representatives of the Union government and farmers' leaders commenced on Saturday evening here.
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Cabinet Minister Piyush Goyal and Prahlad Joshi arrived at the meeting as the Centre's representative, whereas Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (non-political) Jagjit Singh Dallewal and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha leader Sarvan Singh Pandher were present from farmers' side.
After a year-long deadlock, the Union government agreed to resume talks with agitating farmers
and the first meeting was on February 14.
