Chandigarh, March 17 -- One of the suspects in the Amritsar temple attack case was killed in an encounter with police, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said on Monday.
Yadav told media that a police constable was also injured in the encounter.
He said that Amritsar police tracked down suspects in Rajsansi and confronted them. However, the accused opened fire on police party.
A head constable Gurpreet Singh was injured in the firing and the bullet hit the turban of police inspector Amolak Singh.
The DGP said that in retaliatory firing by the police, a suspect was killed and other accused managed to escape.
He said that a FIR has been registered at Airport police station in this regard.
