Phagwara, April 4 -- In a major breakthrough, Punjab Police on Friday arrested two individuals accused of writing Khalistani slogans on the statue of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar in Nangal village of Jalandhar district, an official said.

The accused, identified as Sukhveer Singh and Avtar Singh, both residents of Noorpur Channa in Nakodar, were apprehended near Nangal Gate following a swift investigation.

DIG Jalandhar Naveen Singla said a case has been registered at Phillaur police station under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
