Chandigarh, Oct. 29 -- A young woman from Punjab's Moga district has returned home after enduring months of abuse and captivity in Iraq, where she and several others were allegedly lured by travel agents under the pretext of well-paying jobs.
The woman shared her harrowing experience after reaching Nirmal Kutia, Sultanpur Lodhi, where she met Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal and thanked him for helping secure her return.
She alleged that a travel agent from Jagraon had promised her a tailoring job with weekly holidays and communication access with her family. However, upon arrival first in Dubai and later in Iraq, she was forced into domestic labour and subjected to physical and sexual abuse.
