Chandigarh, Feb. 25 -- The Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Wednesday arrested Shankar Singh, a counsellor posted at the De-addiction Centre in Civil Hospital Bareta, district Mansa, for allegedly securing his job using a fake degree and certificate.
Disclosing this here, an official spokesperson of the bureau said the arrest was made as part of the state government's zero-tolerance policy against corruption.
The accused, a resident of village Bhunder Bhaini in Moonak tehsil of Sangrur district, was working as a counsellor recruited through outsourcing.
His appointment came under scrutiny following verification of academic credentials ordered by the Office of the Civil Surgeon, Mansa.
